Borrow from a payday advance or check cashing store? Phone scam may be targeting you |
Title (Max 100 Characters)
The Hopkins County Sheriff's Department has received complaints of a possible phone scam. Detectives say area residents are getting calls from people who are targeting them because they have loans at check cashing and payday advance stores.
The callers are trying to gain personal information and often act like they are law enforcement agents investigating a crime. They say they are located outside of Kentucky and have federal jurisdiction.
The sheriff's office has investigated and discovered that those calls are not being made by law enforcement officers of any kind.
