Madisonville hosts mine rescue competition |

Madisonville was the site for the Kentucky Coal Academy Regional Skills Mine Rescue Contest.
Even with the heavy rain, nine teams from Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky competed in simulated skill competitions ranging from first aid, mine rescue, mine fires, and written exams.
The competition offers real-world experience in a simulated format for the miners.
"We actually put out a fire, were in smoke, where you can't see your hand and you actually do first aid and it's just a real life situation," says Jan Chambliss with Dotiki Alliance Coal.
