Law enforcement are buckling down on school safety.
Madisonville Police and Hopkins County Sheriffs have been conducting random school lockdown drills all week.
Law enforcement sent in an official with a fake threatening note explaining the situation, then monitor how school officials react in safely securing students.
"That's the thing that we've fought to overcome, is making sure that everybody's prepared and you know if it never happens here," says Steve Gilliam. "We were prepared and it was okay."
Hopkins County School District conducts these drills twice a year to keep students aware of situations that can arise.
