Forensic lab grand opening

Kentucky State Police have unveiled their new Western Kentucky forensic lab.

The state-of-the-art lab is located in Madisonville and law enforcement technicians tell us they're excited about the bigger work area.  As well as, new forensic biology labs, new equipment for drug testing, and clan lab analysis.

"But coming to this laboratory it's for the analysts.  They needed the place to work.  They're the ones who punch the buttons and find the results and report them," says KSP Lieutenant Mark Mayes.

Carnival worker charged with pot trafficking

A Florida carnival worker has been arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.  

The Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office says Jason J. Whitebread of New Port Richey, FL was working in Central City.

He was arrested in a business parking lot and been charged with second degree trafficking in marijuana.

Muhlenberg County Sheriff Deputy Terry Vick arrested Lindsey M Carter of Drakesboro on May 20. Carter has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, 2nd degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Animal cruelty in Dawson Springs

 

After a long investigation, officials with the Hopkins County Humane society and sheriff's department  made a gruesome discovery of animal neglect to several horses.

Officials say Phillip Sizemore and his son, Phillip Hagan Sizemore, have been charged with second-degree cruelty to animals.  The Hopkins County Humane Society had received several complaints about what was happening at 12375 Nortonville Road.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has received information from Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office in regard to a subject defrauding churches in Muhlenberg County.

The subject is described as a black male in his mid 50’s asking the churches for money to get home to help relatives in another state with a family tragedy.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is hoping to make the churches and citizens of Hopkins County aware of this activity in order to prevent the scam from being perpetuated there.

Three charged with burglary in Muhlenberg Co.

 

Three Muhlenberg County men have been charged with 2nd degree burglary.

Deputy Sheriff Brock Mefford charged Justin Wells of Drakesboro; Jesse Legrand of Central City and Preston W. Allen of Beech Creek after an investigation.

They’re accused of breaking into a cabin on Cartwright Lane in Ennis and taking  several items including tools, a TV, hunting clothes and equipment.

All three are in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.

Muhlenberg drug arrests continue

Kentucky State Police served indictment warrants on three subjects for drug charges Tuesday morning.  These charges come as a result of a three-month investigation by KSP detectives.

Arrested were:

  • James M. Tutt, 30, of Greenville, KY
  • James M. Gunn Jr.,55, of Central City, KY
  • Terril L. Embry, 57, of Bremen, KY

All  were lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.  Tutt is also facing charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
