KSP Post 2: 44 Impaired Drivers, 766 speeding citations in January | Crime

The first month of 2012 was a busy one for some state police. January saw 44 impaired drivers arrested by troopers in Kentucky State Police Post 2 compared to just 26 in December. The post released its statistics for January on Wednesday on everything from speeding tickets to crashes to stranded motorists.
766 speeding citations were handed out in January, compared to just 416 the month before.
There were 238 criminal arrests made in the post's district which includes Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster Counties. That was down from 479 arrests in December. Here's a look at the January numbers:

*Issued 766 Speeding Citations
*Issued 121 Seat Belt Citations
*Issued 9 Child Restraint Citations
*Issued 905 Courtesy Notices
*Investigated 67 Traffic Crashes
*Assisted 189 Stranded Motorists
*Responded to 819 Calls for Service
*Opened 50 Criminal Cases
*Made 238 Criminal Arrests
There were three fatal crashes that resulted in the loss of three (3) lives reported in the Post 2 District in January 2012. One fatal crash occurred in Christian County and two fatal crashes occurred in Muhlenberg County. Two victims were not wearing a seatbelt and one victim was wearing a seatbelt.
