Program allows students to text school officers with tips

Crime Stoppers of Hopkins County has provided school resource officers at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School and Hopkins County Central with cell phones.  They're designed to allow students to text tips to the officers.

The idea is for students to report bullying, weapons, drug activity, theft, vandalism or other incidents in a quiet fashion.

Students can also text officers any time they feel unsafe.

Crime Stoppers is also working with Dawson Springs High School to implement the same program.

They recently received a grant from Community Improvement Foundation of Madisonville and Hopkins County to cover the cost of the phones.

Officer Leslie Gregory is the resource officer at MNH while Deputy Tim Bailey is the Hopkins Central officer.
