Expensive guitars stolen; sold to pawn shop | Crime
A Hopkins County teenager was arrested on burglary charges after sheriff’s deputies say he stole eight valuable guitars from a Nortonville resident and sold them to a local pawn shop.
Investigators say it happened back on February 1 when a resident living on Old Hopkinsville Road reported the theft. The eight guitars were worth an estimated $25,000.
A check with local pawn shops revealed the guitars were sold to Park Avenue Pawn Shop in Madisonville. Six of them were seized there but the other two had already been sold.
The sheriff’s office says 18-year-old Jacob Upton admitted to entering the house, taking the guitars and selling from for $11,050.
Upton was charged with the burglary and the items recovered were returned to the victim.
