Hundreds take place in 9/11 Heroes Run in downtown Madisonville | News
A long awaited day finally arrived for the 9/11 Heroes Run in Madisonville.
Over 700 runners took part in the event that started at 8:00 on Saturday.
Officials are calling it the largest race in Madisonville History.
Over 31 intersections were shut down as the 3.1-mile race toured downtown.
Firefighters from across Hopkins County and Madisonville Police ran in full uniform to honor the fallen soldiers and respect the living.
"It's been fabulous," said Kelly Forbes. We've been waiting for this for a couple weeks now. Just to get here, we've worked so hard on it. Just to see all these people support us has been pretty amazing."
Over 15,000 people nationwide raced raising money to support first responders and the military both overseas and here at home.
