Officials talk I-69 impact on future of Western Kentucky | News
HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE)-
An interstate which will impact the future of Western Kentucky was on full display on Tuesday at the I-69 Conference in Madisonville.
"It shortens the time, travelers, our time is very important to us so people want shorter travel time. They want to get where there going to spend more time, to get to experience the location. That's what this does," said Mark Mangeot with Kentucky Travel and Tourism. "One of the other speakers said it's already in Indiana cut down 45 minutes of his travel time to Indianapolis. My time is valuable, traveler's time is valuable. If I can get somewhere and enjoy it and get home, I'm more likely to go there."
One official from Texas says Madisonville is similar to what his area looked like prior to the interstate. Where grass once was, businesses have moved in, so definitely a bright future for Western Kentucky.
