HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE)- The 600 acre ATV Park in Earlington is getting an upgrade. It's all thanks to a pair of grants worth over $60,000.
The park is getting a number of upgrades including a brand new trailhead facility. The building will likely have four new bathrooms, a T-shirt shop, an office, and a first aid center.
City Officials say they're hoping to also get some sort of safety vehicle to make it easier to attend to riders in need of medical attention on the course.
Eventually park organizers hope to build cabins near the course to create a convenient lodging option for riders visiting from out of town, but officials say this park is only around two years old and it's still developing.
"It's just tying everything together. Eventually, hopefully, it's to tie the park into the ATV Park and a nature trail all the way around the lake, back into the other side of the road here," said Earlington Mayor, Mike Seiber. "It's just phase, phase, and phase, then keep hammering elected officials in getting money to keep promoting this."
Officials hope to have the new trail head facility open this summer.
