Good Samaritans pull Hopkins Co. man from burning SUV

A Dawson Springs man was pulled from his burning vehicle following an accident near Earlington early Saturday morning.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department says 43-year-old Tony B. Stewart  was going east on Ilsley Road in his 1994 Jeep Cherokee about 4:30 a.m. when he dropped off the shoulder. When he attempted to bring the vehicle back onto the road, it rolled over multiple times, landing on its right side against some trees.

The SUV then caught fire and Stewart was pulled to safety by others who saw the accident and stopped.  He was transported to Regional Medical Center by Med Center Ambulance.

Earlington Fire Dept. extinguished the vehicle and a small patch of field and trees surrounding the vehicle. Also assisting with the scene was Madisonville Police Dept. and St. Charles Fire Dept.
