Dogs kept in "unlivable" conditions; owner faces charges | News
Saint Charles, Ky (WFIE)- A Hopkins County man is charged with 23 counts of animal cruelty.
Authorities say 58-year-old Ricky McBride allegedly kept his 23 dogs in what's being described as "unlivable" conditions.
The county attorney's office says McBride could face up to a year in jail for each count of animal cruelty.
This started when Kentucky State Police troopers searched McBride's home off Union Temple Road in Saint Charles.
They were looking for a meth lab, but instead found a mixture of 23 poodles and shih tzus they believed were severely neglected.
The dogs are now being treated by the Hopkins County Humane Society for open sores and malnutrition, some even needing surgery.
Officials say once this case is solved in court, the shelter may get ownership of the dogs.
