Four hurt in wreck on Pennyrile

The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury collision that occurred on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway, approximately four miles south of Nortonville, on Tuesday at 8:15 a.m.

Troopers say Justin A. Cunningham, age 20 of Owensboro, was operating a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on the Parkway in the passing (left) lane.  Larry D. Osby, age 62 of Scottsboro, AL, was operating a 1981 Mack truck southbound on the parkway in the travel (right) lane.

Troopers say it’s believed Cunningham fell asleep as he was passing Osby’s truck.  The Pontiac drifted into the travel lane and made contact with Osby’s truck.    Cunningham lost control of the vehicle and it veered to the left.  The vehicle traveled into the median where it overturned onto its top.  The Pontiac came to rest on its top in the median.  Osby was able to pull his truck to the side of the road.

Cunningham and his three passengers, Joyce Willett, age 19, Johnathan Cunningham, age 1, and Jaxton Cunningham, 3 ½ months, all of Owensboro,   were transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Hospital for treatment of possible injuries  Cunningham and   Willett were not wearing seatbelts.  The children were restrained in child safety seats.

Osby, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.
