Authorities say 3 students facing charges for distributing prescription drugs
HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE)-
A Hopkins County middle school student and two high school students are facing charges after authorities say they distributed prescription drugs at school.
Officials say the situations at the two schools were unrelated.
School officials say one of those instances happened at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School. On Wednesday, county officials are offering some safety tips to parents.
"Different behavior among the students. If they seem a little bit out of the ordinary that day, huddled up in a group, a lot of kids handing things back and forth. Just the general signs that they're not used to seeing the kids act in a specific way," said Detective Shawn Bean with Hopkins County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office says deputies do run K-9 units through county schools periodically to check for this type of situation.
