Hopkins Co. man arrested on wanton endangerment charges | News
HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE)- A Hopkins County man was arrested on a wanton endangerment charge.
A little after 11 p.m. Monday night, Madisonville Police Department responded to a shots fired call at the apartment of Archie Johnson at Hidden Hills Apartments.
Officers say they questioned several people in the apartment and discovered 35-year-old James Peeples was armed with a concealed Hi-Point 9mm pistol.
Police say Peeples had a valid concealed carry permit and the gun was found that the gun was not stolen.
All at the apartment said no shots had been fired and everything was okay.
Officers say after they left the scene, 50-year-old Timothy Reese located police and told them he was shot at in the apartment. Reese said he went through a bedroom window after a confrontation with Peeples.
Officers obtained a search warrant for Johnson's apartment and then located a 9 mm shell casing and bullet hole in one of the kitchen cabinets.
Johnson admitted to being in a physical altercation with Reese and firing his pistol in the apartment, but said the gun accidentally discharged.
Peeples was charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st degree and lodged at the Hopkins County Jail.
